The first session can feel a little nerve-wracking, and that's completely normal. My goal is to make it feel as comfortable, relaxed, and collaborative as possible.
We'll spend our time talking about what's bringing you to therapy, what you're hoping to get out of it, and getting to know you as a whole person. I'll ask questions about your upbringing, family, relationships, work, and other areas of your life that feel important. There is no pressure to share everything right away - you get to decide what feels okay to talk about and what you prefer to leave for another day.
Before we wrap up, we'll check in about how the session felt and discuss how I can best support you moving forward. We'll also talk about scheduling. While every person is different, many clients find that weekly sessions during the first month help build trust, momentum, and a strong therapeutic relationship.
-
There isn't a one-size-fits-all answer (annoying therapist answer, I know). The length of therapy depends on your goals, what you're working through, and how much support feels helpful to you.
Some people come to therapy for a specific life transition or challenge and meet for a few months. Others choose to stay longer as they heal from childhood trauma, work on relationship patterns, or continue growing in ways that feel meaningful.
We'll regularly check in on your progress and make decisions together. My goal isn't to keep you in therapy forever—it's to help you build the insight, skills, and confidence to trust yourself outside of our sessions. If the day comes when you don't need me anymore, I'll consider that a success.

Like most specialty practices, I do not accept insurance. However, if your insurance plan includes out of network benefits, I can help you submit superbills for potential reimbursement from your insurance company. I do partner with Thrizer (a liaison between therapists and insurance) to help streamline this process. Check out your out of network benefits HERE
You have the right to receive a “Good Faith Estimate” explaining how much your medical care will cost.
Under the law, health care providers need to give patients who don’t have insurance or who are not using insurance an estimate of the bill for medical items and services.
You have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate for the total expected cost of any non-emergency items or services. This includes related costs like medical tests, prescription drugs, equipment, and hospital fees.
Make sure your health care provider gives you a Good Faith Estimate in writing at least 1 business day before your medical service or item. You can also ask your health care provider, and any other provider you choose, for a Good Faith Estimate before you schedule an item or service.
If you receive a bill that is at least $400 more than your Good Faith Estimate, you can dispute the bill.
Make sure to save a copy or picture of your Good Faith Estimate. For questions or more information about your right to a Good Faith Estimate, visit www.cms.gov/nosurprises or call 800-985-3059.
Hoping to use insurance for therapy?
I partner with Thrizer to make using your out-of-network insurance benefits as simple as possible. Thrizer can help you understand your benefits, submit claims on your behalf, and—in some cases—allow you to pay only your estimated portion of the session upfront instead of waiting for reimbursement from your insurance company.
Curious what your plan might cover? Enter your insurance information in the widget next to this section to get an estimate of your out-of-network benefits and what you could expect to pay per session.
